Thrive:
Mastering Personal Resilience©
What does it take for clinical and non-clinical leaders to thrive?
The answer is: resilience.
Our program is inspired by the landmark book:
BE AWESOME!, Banish Burnout: Create Motivation from the Inside Out.
by Dr. Kristina Hallett, PhD, ABPP
Expertly Done™ Institute has partnered with Dr. Hallett to deliver Thrive!
Resilience: The Key to Organizational Health
In its absence, we often see employee disengagement, leadership challenges, and a decline in productivity.
However, positive reality is that resilience can be both a natural quality and a skill that's developed over time.
Our Thrive: Mastering Personal Resilience© program is expertly tailored to equip both clinical and non-clinical leaders with the tools to foster personal resilience. This focus is vital for maintaining a dynamic, engaged workforce and ensuring strong, effective leadership across your organization.
“Life doesn’t get easier or more forgiving, we get stronger and more resilient.”
― Steve Maraboli
Resilience:
The Most Essential Skill for the 21st Century
Resilience is defined as “the ability to cope with difficult or challenging life experiences", to “roll with the punches”, or to cope with the unexpected or with disasters.
The American Psychological Association defines it as, “the process and outcome of successfully adapting to difficult or challenging life experiences, especially through mental, emotional, and behavioral flexibility and adjustment to external and internal demands.”
That ability is especially important in today’s healthcare industry and it’s essential for both clinical and non-clinical leaders to master.
In today’s fast-paced healthcare industry, dealing with stress, adapting to rapidly shifting situations, handling employee and patient concerns, and balancing personal and professional lives can be immensely challenging.
That’s particularly true in organizations without effective health and well-being initiatives.
Unfortunately, only 52% of all US companies offer such a program, and the AAMC reports that roughly 50% of healthcare organizations it polled have some sort of initiative in place, although the quality and depth of those programs varies wildly.
But why is resilience so important?
Resilience can increase energy, concentration, and even enthusiasm, which have profound effects on everything from patient care to productivity to organizational culture.
Resilience increases confidence and job satisfaction, while reducing job turnover, allowing you to build in-house leadership and invest in your most important asset – your PEOPLE.
Resilience has been tied to dramatic improvements in overall health and well-being, including mental, emotional, and physical health.
How much can resilience change your organization’s situation?
Significantly!
⇨ Resilience increases enthusiasm by 45%.
⇨ It increases concentration by 27%.
⇨ It boosts energy levels by 33%.
⇨ Resilience enhances leader confidence by 32%.
⇨ It bolsters job satisfaction by 44%.
⇨ Resilience can even reduce depression by up to 44%.
Don’t take our word for it, though.
The importance of resilience has been borne out in clinical study after clinical study.
One study that included over 2,000 individuals measured the resilience of individual participants, as well as their level of stress, burnout, likelihood of experiencing depression, level of job satisfaction, productivity on the job, and more.
The study found that “High strain work environments (high demand, low influence, and low support) have an unfavorable effect on all outcomes. Resilience has a protective effect on all outcomes. For stress, burnout, and sleep, higher resilience has a more protective effect under low-strain conditions. For depression, absence and productivity, resilience has a more protective effect when job strain is high.”
Another study found that “resilient employees have higher confidence at work. In times of uncertainty, higher employee capability may lead to higher work engagement.” The study concluded that resilience is associated with work engagement and mental well-being, the ability to mediate, and other benefits.
The challenge is creating, administering, and maintaining a health and well-being program that measurably improves employee resilience and boosts leadership retention. However, doing so is critical to retaining and growing your in-house talent base.
